Hey guys,
Sorry to hear about the scamming, but as we've said before, we knew that the intial implementation of Gifting would have this potential issue. Hence our warning (http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?1044-WARNING!-Trade-is-about-trust!-You-can-currently-only-give-with-no-secure-swap.). So, please only engage in trades with people you trust, or just use it as a way to gift items.
Secure trading is in the works. Thanks!

It is your own fault for trusting someone you don't know.
What I don't understand is... why would you ever let someone switch characters after you have given them an item? x.x

No offense, but how would you stop them after you already gave up the goods?

The real question is why trust someone you don't know in the first place?
Like I've said on other threads....Don't make trades. Not until 1.2. This update is more of a "hey I got this mage item in a dungeon and I can't use it, do you want it?" not a "trade my bow for your bow." Just wait until 1.2, by the time the new maps come out the top of the line items won't be top of the line any more, and you won't need to risk being scammed.

The idea is not to loose a significant percentage of players because they were scammed and now think PL sucks. If adding a warning in game on the GIVE tab would save a percentage of players from leaving who would otherwise be giving $$ to SS in the future then it is worth it. Yes, we could all wait until 1.2 comes out but what if for some reason that is not for a month? Putting the warning on now could mean $$ for SS down the line and help preserve the player base.

A warning directly on the ui is a good idea... and an excellent example of a data change that we can do quickly. We'll get something in for tomorrow.

Right. This new feature is labeled as "GIFTING" not "TRADING". There will always be a risk if you choose to try and trade with this gifting option.
