Insomnia blog? Insomnia blog.

So I noticed another user had a thread here about insomnia and dark thoughts.

I also have insomnia...I guess. By my count, I've seen at least 20-25 dead bodies in my career - 3 of those I watched draw their last breaths. Of those 3, 2 were traffic accidents and one was a stabbing. I've also been unlucky enough to bear witness to 2 very, very horrible cases of child abuse. So, yeah.

Now I won't put on my tough guy hat and pretend like it's never bothered me, but I think I should say it's never directly bothered me. Maybe it's weird, maybe it's callous but whatever...I just chalk it up to the game. That said, I often lay awake replaying the deaths of those 3 in my head. My issue comes when I think that could be my loved one there. As a result I often don't sleep well at all. My mind wanders.

Anyway, to anyone else out there who suffers from insomnia for whatever reason, just know you aren't alone. Try to stay positive and focused and block out what's bugging you. Strangely enough I do long division to derail that train of thought. Sounds weird, but it works for me.

Carry on.

Wow! Pretty crazy stuff there. I've seen a few dead but actually seen someone die once. It was in a car accident, we had. He was under the influence of narcotics and alcohol (we got a toxicology report). It was bothersome but then again at one point I wanted to be a coroner...so yeah...lol

Tragedy induced insomnia is by far the worst. Ive known a few people that ended up turning to drugs, and alcohol to cope. In reality, I think they needed counseling to find a better way to deal with their issues. Although it doesn't help some, it does help the majority.

The other post you referenced was written by my daughter. Her insomnia was caused by a new medicine she was trying. Insomnia is a common side effect for it, for the first week, or so. After that it goes away. It's been rough watching her go through the last few days with no sleep, and trying to convince her it was a temporary thing. But good news. She finally slept all night last night!! I'm hoping that she is fully over the insomnia. Only the next couple days will tell.

Thank you for this blog. I'll be sure to show it to her so she can see that she's not alone, and a lot of people can relate to what she's going through.

Like I said, I don't think it really bothers me...I don't like it, and I wish those folks hadn't died but it is what it is.

What always keeps my mind running is knowing that even the most minuscule, seemingly insignificant thing made all the difference. I know some of them passed because they weren't wearing a seatbelt, and I know some of them who would have lived had they not been wearing a seatbelt.

Life is fragile. It's freaky to see how things unfold sometimes.

Sounds really creepy and I'm sorry for you you had seen this.
I actualy have a comparable problem like you, everytime I fall asleep I dream of murdering a random person at street, so every night I get afraid of sleeping.
I can relate to you, you're not alone.
