Number of kills

How is number of kills calculated? I have been killing mobs in ao2, and ao3 for like 4 hours but still have the same kills.

Kills only count for mobs you can gain XP from. So anything 3 or more levels below you doesn't count. AO2 is 40-45, so if you are level 48 or higher you can't get kills there.
