Crafting costs of equipment

STS, I've mentioned this before in another topic, but I wanted to start an actual, official "opinion gathering thread" in hopes of changing the crafting a bit.

To my fellow players: let everyone know your opinion on the matter! Agree, disagree, any other ideas, let 'em be known! :D Thanks, all!

Problem as I see it:

The costs of the recipes for crafting custom armor or weapons is far more than what the paltry stat increases would indicate they should be.

Possible solutions:

1. Reduce the cost of recipes without adjusting stat bonuses.

Pros:

-More people might be able to afford the sets.

-People may lose some of the thinking that you need to "pay to play", or use plat to purchase credits to stay competitive, especially PvP players.

-A general increase in happiness across the board, stemming from pro #1. I know I was quite happy for awhile when i was finally able to finish my custom bladetech.

Cons:

-Custom crafted items will lose some of its "elite status" as more people would be able to afford it.

-Possibility of reducing your, STS, money intake as less people would be buying plat for credits or buying the plat gear.

2. Adjust the stat increases up, but leave the price alone.

Pro:

-People will feel they get more bang for their buck.

-The gear would have an even more "elite status" due to better stats.

-Your, STS, money intake would remain the same, perhaps even increase due to people looking to complete that set.

Cons:

-Some may complain that the custom gear gives "unfair advantages", especially in PvP.

-Would still be expensive.

I think one of these adjustments would placate the majority of people. Just remember, that besides the cost of the crafting recipes themselves, we incur costs for materials, too, which, depending on how the market feels that day, could be upwards of 15,000 additional credits per piece.

In conclusion, I would like to thank STS for putting out such a fine product. I know that you guys have been tied up for whatever reasons *cough* Dark Legends *cough*, but hopefully the updates will resume soon.

Me too
If it didn't have more stats than it wouldn't really matter if you had custom or not
But that would give the advantage to plat buyers

Hmmm.. I thought plat armor could give advantage to plat users, not custom..

I agree that some ppl can buy creds for plat, but exchange rates r so high, that i doubt lots of ppl do so

Well, I've reported it to STS to be moved to suggestions forum, so they are aware of it. They are free to close it. Maybe this is less a petition than a extension of my original thread. Still, it's their ball and if they want to take it and go home, well, that's their choice. However, I hope they let it ride, I'm open to editing the op to remove "offensive" words such as "petition" and "riot in the streets". LOL, but seriously, I wouldn't mind editing if STS requires it.

I chose number 1 because 35,000 is insanely hard to get without platinum. There really isn't any big list of good items and variety as in PL with their constantly competitive cs so merchanting is still hard now.

Merchanting is hard, i agree.. But 35k was half-the-Razr.. And farming those in SY is quite possible

For me personally, it isn't the price. I understand that to get the best gear possible you'll need to pay a premium for it. What bugs me is that the stat increases are not worth the time and money spent to get it. You pay a premium price for a slight bump in gear quality.

I like the second option. More stats but not changing price. Custom runetech is just not good. Its the same as runetech just gives a little more mana

I like both options but I think the bump in stats would be the best option as it is a win/win.
