Id go with dps.
Damage is how much damage your skills do
Dps(damage per second) is how much damage your weapon can do in1 second
Something like that

Dmg is better IMO. It's why I love meh bow. Less dps but more skill damage!!
It really depends on which class u are if u are a warrior it would be dmg because u need more skill dmg for a warrior. For a rogue its all about dps cus we dont do that much skill dm,g how it is so we need that powerful auto to help us out. Mage I think should be a mix with half skill dmg and half dps but its up to u and ur play style.
none of these r important for war. bonus dmg % r more important. focus on that nd u can dish out movs pretty fast using skills

I always thought DPS is an average of how much damage you do in a second. So in those two screenshots the one on the left you do 101.8 damage per swing, however you can do more than one swing a second so the DPS is higher at 114.6 dps.
The one on the right its damage is 114.6 but you do exactly one swing per second so the DPS is also 114.6
Faster the weapon the more swings per second hence the higher DPS if the damage is good. If the damage of the weapon is 200 and it swings once per 2 seconds your DPS is is 100, if it swings once every half a second your DPS is 400.
Obviously damage is based on your base stats too not just the weapon

He means that the more times hit the more the armour comes into play. Look.
Say your wep has 50 damage and hits 4times a second. So 50*4=200 but he has 40 armour so (50-40)*4 is the actual damage a second which is a measly 40..
Now you have a wep that does 100 damage that hits 2 times a second. 100*2=200 but now we factor in the enemy's 40 armour (100-40)*2=120 damage. And 120>40.
This is just an example none of these numbers are actual numbers.

Damage is important for all.
Proc is often overlooked, but for the most part damage is superior.
The effectiveness of this two criteria are in the ff:
damage = skills
dps = normal attack
Damage - mages, since they rely on skills
Damage - rouge, technically since they are dex type or agility type the dps should be higher or dominate over damage but since majority of player make they rouge hybrid for pvp they pick damage over dps since they make the skills as their killing medium. Therefore, when you aim shot it will surely be felt by your opponent
Damage and DPS - warrior, it depend on the player which he's good at.

I prefer damage, coz I'm skill dependant. And damage also apply in normal attack (esp when you charge) but dps don't apply in skills.
Dota perspective lmao:
Draw ranger = agility - DPS (the attack speed + damage per sec make it more effective)
Invoker = Int - Damage (damage per skills gives more damage to opponent)
