Is this like, a bug? Sts?

Today after buying smelly helm mage i found out something weird about it

Are those hole supposed to be earhole and let mage's ear go through them?
Why isnt the ears there? Idk if its always been there but shouldnt be that way i think

It can be set either way, so it's most likely not a bug since the items are different.

Just feels weird lol, i think it should have ears cause this is the same as common helm just with smelly smoke
