No, it's a bug. Those normally appear when a pet is happy, but they appear to be left behind when someone disapparates. It happens on both Chrome and Android for me.

When I had that happen, it still showed me the popup saying I got the elixir; it just had no effect.

That is not what happened; this is clearly specified in my original post.

I agree with other people that it's far too easy to accidentally click and buy a chest with plat. I did it. But what's worse is that the next time, when I got the alert that he had a free chest...

This bug appears to be back—Dimitrius is not letting me turn in City Under Siege; all I get is a “[Leave.]” button, just like previously reported.

After completion, the quest arrow points back to the terminal, rather than to Science Officer McMillan.

Given how hard money is to come by in SL, the ~170k prices I was seeing before were kind of ridiculous. In any case, the pinks aren't all that great, so they're not really worth much.
