    Default Unfortunate Turn for PL

It seems that the people playing this game have become more and more unpleasant and it's only getting worse. People boot nearly half the time, at least every other game I enter. Many of these people don't even have a good reason. A player named Chickenduk booted me, and the reason he gave was "3,2,1, Boom!", which is just nasty and obnoxious. Just a few minutes ago, I joined a game hosted by Trueplayer and even bought an armor pot. He asked to trade, and didn't tell me he wanted anything, he just said, c'mon, hurry! I assume he was asking me to pay him to stay, which is rediculous, but he didn't even give me the courtesy of asking me. Needless to say he booted me as well.

I want to keep playing but it seems as though the general Pocket Legends crowd seems to have changed from a fun, open, and friendly group to a bunch of people I wouldn't wish on anyone else. The few friendly people from the old days are getting fewer (Nod to you, RedRyder, and Smokester, I haven't seen you in quite awhile). I hope this turns around, as this group of players make the game barely worth turning on.

As far as any of the booters I mentioned above, I hope you don't treat your friends and families like you do the people you meet online.

thats half the point of being online. I'm not much for booting without cause, but if you are level 50 and having this problem, i suggest you start your own games. If you build it, they will come.

Edit: for the record i dont condone people being jerks, but its to be expected in an online community sadly.

First of all, I am level 50. Second of all, I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that half the point of being online is being able to treat others like crap without consequences, or without it being wrong?

Pretty much. This is why there's Trowlllllllzzzz. Om nom nom nom. Hur hur. Derp. Catch my drift?

Anyways, I agree about the community but that's to be expected. Once the game get's big your more likely to catch the 11 year old crowds, the ones responsible for "Pocket Legends Cheats" being one of the most commonly searched terms when you type "Pocket Legends" on YouTube or Google. Either way, it's not just the fault of others. If you want to avoid those issues just make your own room and be patient. A lot of people will complain that no one joins if you host a room, but if you buy a 2x DMG elixer & forget about it, time passes quickly and before you know it you'll have 3 players with you. I'm a level 46 and never have these issues. I mean earlier today I created an AO3 room and was alone for 5 minutes, soloing the first stage by myself (thank god I have some Thoth, I'm a debuff whore lol). Then all of a sudden I had 4 players on my team running with me after a few minutes of alone time.

    Patience is a virtue.

Thanks for your opinions guys, but I have to say I find it a sad commentary that people are turning to this game as an excuse to treat complete strangers like garbage. I'm not sure what you mean by 'It's not just the fault of others', but I personally thing it's disgusting. I understand that you will be fine if you just make your own game, but this is not how people should conduct themselves, especially in a forum specifically geared towards social interaction. If I were to act like this to my wife or spouse, it would only end badly, and not knowing someone is not an excuse for this behaviour.

If you want me to put things in a different perspective, let me translate it into political terminology.

Your coming into this Republic Democracy based game, heavily influenced by Capitalism. With Capitalism, there's money giants, greedy people, rude people, the works. Your a socialist who's views are that everyone is equal, your generally pacifist while most of the people you find right wing aggressivists. This upsets you and by your way of revolution you made an well written complaint through a letter about the situation.

However, the arrogant right wing conservatives are just going to laugh and do as they do because they know they can.

In all honesty I am a socialist in reality lol.

OMG, don't want to turn this into politics but please don't compare rude people to right wing conservatives as a whole. I know plenty of a-hole democrats.

That being said, I know in any online environment that there will be jerks (to put it nicely). But does that mean we want to be the type of community that is known for that and be proud of it as well?

Part of the fun of PL in the early days was enjoying some free time in a busy life to get a quick game in. Now I have to waste time being booting for no legit reason (I joined a game as level 48 in AO3 with all level 49s and was booted for reason "low level"). Before it used to be all about helping the others in the game. I wish there was a way for all the different types of players to get along.

Again, being online, yeah, grow a pair and be done with it. I get that. But don't be proud of being a rude community.

Ponies for the Proletariat! Think of it this way--if people are are the sorts that are going to boot folks for a minor/no reason, would you enjoy playing with them? And in some cases you might get booted because they're saving a spot for someone, i.e. It might not be personal. A polite, "sorry, we're waiting for someone" would be nice, though.

Something along the lines of, "No, no...you're thinking 'benevolent dictatorship'. This is a malevolent monarchy" perhaps?

Not to turn it in to a political discussion either, but personally anyone who supports keeping the rich, rich and the poor, poor is arrogant. Right wing conservatives enjoy creating pseudo freedom, with that mentality it basically means as long as their standard of living is alright, the rest of the world doesnt matter. In which case they should just go crawl under a rock, knowing they advocate children starving, and choose to fund billions into supporting militant upkeep rather than helping the people suffering within their country.

Anyways i support everything you said setec, but i was pointing out that he needs to come to peace with the fact that those type people will always be everywhere. However, i do notice a change in the community. Like more beggars, scammers, rude people, etc.

I guess this is where PL is. I didn't 'come into a 'Republican Capitalist Democracy'. Back in March, I came into a friendly, well balanced game. I'm just surprised that it has degenerated this far. As for Azrael, I have to say your opinion kinda surprises me, as I have always found you a friendly and fun person to farm with in game, and in general I wouldn't mind more players behaving like you.

Your problem is that your an idealist. And i didnt mean it literally, i said i was translating the situation into Politics. Im simply saying that nothing or will ever be perfect. Things change over time and staying in the past does nothing. You should focus on now and how to make it better if it bothers you as much as it seems to. Enjoy the game for what it is and offer suggestions to fix the issues with the community. Like that new guild "the respectable bunch" was a good alternative idea to the newly disliked community.

@araziza - I doubt back in March since it came out April 3rd (I'm just being a smart ***)

@MurdocX - Yeah, I'm a proud republican and think democrats are nuts. But I will end it there because I hate discussing politics over mmorpg. Okay, so yeah, I see your point and a good one that yes, any internet location is going to have good and bad persons on it for good or worse. Fact of internet life.

Not meaning to offend anybody, and this definately isn't true for everyone... but it's safe to say that a large percentage of Pocket Lengends players are male ages 12-15 who feel like they own the game and can do whatever they want because there's a "boot" button next to our name. There are often groups of their real-life friends who play and they don't let anybody else in, laughing at our inability to do anything about it.

Not trying to steriotype people, but it's often true in MMORPGs that males who are loud and proud, in-your-face, easily-offended, tempermental, and controlling are very common. And because the PL community is fairly small, they make a big impact on the game. I understand people want to be the best, but it should be more about having fun with everyone than putting people down to advance. Come on, you're loudmouthing over virtual gold coins and accesories made for pets.

    --

Yes, we all lose our tempor and get PO-ed. But a good start is learning to give people more slack. Not everybody plays 24/7 and has millions...

There are a lot of rude people. I agree with Nigharcher: I also think these are adolescent males, who are everywhere in the gaming world.

I do not have that much trouble with being booted - if it happens, I usually get an apology. Sometimes someone might've just been running with a good group and they boot the new joiner. I have no problem with that. And if I do have a problem, then I start my own game. Also not a problem.

What I do have a slight problem with, but again, not at HUGE problem because I can choose to leave (though usually the rude person/people leave), is when someone/someones come in, yell at everyone about doing blah blah, doing it faster, doing it better, everyone else being noobs. The rude person rushes all over the place, dies, dies, dies, yells for revs, dies, dies, dies and leaves. I'm usually laughing and rolling my eyes because I imagine these people do not get far in AO3. I imagine they're the level 50 warriors waiting behind the "tanking" mages/birds. Sometimes I hop games, which includes starting my own. Sometimes I stay with the other eye-rolling mages/birds and we play for a bit. Many times we end up eventually with a good group and clear the boss. I do not leave too many bosses alive.

Hmm...so what am i saying? Maybe patience is the name of the game.

Usually when I log on, I'm a slow starter. I wander about town a bit; I stock up a bit; check my EQ a bit. Then maybe I sit around AFK (LOL) or maybe I join an Ao3 game, usually Ao3:1, 2, or 3. These games usually are not that stressful. You have to be a little bit careful about disorganized groups in Ao3:3 but it's not too bad. After a bit I usually get invited somewhere but if not, I wander about Ao3 games until I have to go. It's not that complicated. I think it helps when I am not rushing about a lot; too much rushing all the time is a bit stressful. I find a break from rushing/farming helps with PL enjoyment.

And yes, that means I do not have ALL the best EQ. But a little bit of skillful play is generally better than the totally equipped players running about with the best EQ but only know how to hack-n-slash.

I rotate through my characters and it's pretty good so far. Ao3 is very much tilted toward the tank bear though. However, the birdie and mage have their uses. Damage and rev have their places in Ao3 and it's good to know where a class excels so you can go there or direct others there as you wish. Oh, if you do not like dying, stay out of Ao3. And if you do not like rude people, stay away from your mage character or play it in small doses; people seem to be rudest to the mages. It's probably time for mages to pout a lot.

I've played healer classes since Never Winternights, couple of years into WoW, I turned into a cynical, bitter, thick skinned healer, with a holier then thou attitude.

    Calmed down since then

Maybe it is time for a"No Rez, for U!!" chat quickslot.

AO3 is a bit of a pain, given up playing that without starting my own room.
Problem is that by not booting the l30's who join it becomes impossible to kill the boss, and when high levels see a room half full of low levels they just leave. So it just becomes a minion killing quitting when its just the boss.

An option to set minimum level for a room would probably help avoid hurt feelings.
