At level 31 with all max mythic gear, the level 30 firesquid gives over 520 dps and the level 31 runic gun gives over 350 dmg. Just leveling up to 36 with the same level 30/31 gear would probably give a 10 increase in those numbers. And with the armor/helm upgrading to 36 having additional stats, and the firesquid scaling to level 35, I'd guess over 650 dps from that. So 500 dmg/800 dps from a sorcerer Arcane weapon does not sound unreasonable.

Compare the rogue hooks to the best legendary level 26 rogue weapon, or the maul to the best level 31 warrior weapon. That is how the sorcerer arcane weapon should compare to the best level 35/36 sorcerer weapon.

You're definitely going to be underwhelmed by the damage. It's going to be high dps staff with a good proc. It'll have good damage too though, just not astronomically higher like the maul was
