    Default A scamming issue

Lately, I noticed there has been a lot of scammers in pl ever before.
Every day when I log in pl and do my merching business and whatnot, I come across people who are looking to buy items more priced than cs. For example, I come across ( wont put his name out there ) this dude who's buying a death shotgun/talon set for 5m, then when i searched these items in cs, I see the same shotgun/death talon set by 1 person. That got me thinking.... People are willing to scam ur money by using alts to list overpriced items. I just want the community to be aware of this issue that has risen lately.

Is that really scamming or is that just really smart?

I would consider it scamming since if u would buy their overpriced items from their alt and then try to sell it to them, they would just run off....

I believe that there are no "scams," just people falling for stupid things. If it seems WAYYYYYY too good to be true, it probably is.

But that's the point of the word scam - people being able to bend and twist different laws and concepts of the game mechanics in order to benefit themselves, and hurt someone else. So it's different for different people - whereas, a player that isn't as familiar with the game could easily be "scammed" and then there are those who think they have nothing to worry about, and then perform a "stupid" act.

    Just my 2 cents.

I get what you're saying, as I've actually been "scammed" when I was a noob and it obviously doesn't feel good, but my point was just to say that if people pay attention, it'd be alot easier to not get scammed. Half of the scam threads are "Oh, he DID put down 1.7m for my beastly set but at the last second changed it to 170k and omgosh I got scammed." <--- I guess I'm not fully comprehending ALL the scams that are out there, as you are definitely right about it, I'm just thinking about the people that don't pay attention and then have people feel sorry for them for "getting scammed."

Yeah man! I totally agree - I think what I'm saying is that the definition of scamming is being "stupid" for falling for tricks; that a word was needed to fit this type of definition.

Also, I did this when I first started out... I thought I was so smart. But it's better to earn money the right way. It feels Bette when you finally accomplish it.

I've seen this a lot but this isn't a scam. This is social manipulation which happens in every day life. Not a scam, just not legitimate.

Na. I don't define scamming as listing a set or item, then getting an alt to try to sell for more.

IMO, scamming is when someone goes "ya here give me (X amount) of gold and ill give you your Item after trade" then leaving and never seeing that scammed person ever again

    Um.
Yesterday I went on PL and almost as soon as I got on, this guy spammed me he's selling a red dragon for 5million.
Not the Armor, but the real vanity pet.
Since he spammed me, I went into trade, and guess what?

He put Red dragon ARMOR, and told me it was a red dragon vanity pet, but StG put the wrong name.

    I muted him after that.

The point is so called scammers innovate new ways of scamming to make fool peoples thus peoples have to be smarter in first place. then again the line comes true there's no scamming, its just the foolish peoples.

I like to call them out publicly and make fools of them.
In the case of this type of scam yell out loud that "it's in cs for less listed by "x" stop spamming and buy it yourself, that is unless you don't think we all know that you are "x", don't be a noob scammer, do you think we're dumb ect.."

Or those double gold guys, just point out that their wearing 2k worth of gear therefore it's obvious to everyone that they can't do what they say, so quit being a nubscammer.
They usually run from me quickly.

The added benefit is that anyone in that town that didn't know how the scam worked may now understand how it works.
