What happens when Halloween quest is finished?

Do I need to return my rental costume? I'd like to keep it seeing as how it's no longer offered, and I get many offers to buy it off me.

But especially because I was shown that it was a free rental, then the game deducted 5 plat!

you can't sell costumes and they are going to vanish from your inventory/stash as soon as 1.5 comes out.
the bag of sweets is a vanity item. how would you use it as a hat? do you put bags over your head?
