I suggest either next Gen nexus 10, kindle fire HDX8.9, iPad 5, or galaxy note 10.1 (2013). None of these will leave you disappointed.
At this time of year, many manufacturers are refreshing their hardware so just wait it out a bit more so you can see the full range of the latest and greatest
As far as smaller tablets go the front runners are the Kindle fire HDX7, nexus 7 (2013),and ipad mini 2 (yet to be unveiled)
