weapon speed and dps confusion

I'm playing a dex bird and was wondering , are people going for faster higher dps weapons for pve and slower higher top end damage for pvp?

there is a massive discrepancy in dps between fast and slow bows

I prefer higher dps unless the slower bow gives better stats but i usually go with the higher dps one since you would want to do more damage as quick as possible to kill the enemy off fast. It depends on the other stats really

Personally i think because of the great variety of items and stat differences, and also personal preferences that this is more something you kind of just have to play around with and see what you like the best. Each person will play a game slightly different and each have there own strategy that works best for them =)
