    This is no bug. Magmatic totem gear drops from elite tindirn while expedition rifles drop from crates hence the massive supply vs demand price difference. Most people who own this staff like the bump in DPS it offers or owns it for looks. Just stick with the expedition rifle and save yourself some gold.

    No its no bug. historically wands have greater DPS but less DMG than rifles. What makes totem expensive is supply and demand. You must farm elites for a chance at dropping a totem. Also totem has a nice proc that stuns any mob (including bosses) and pulls mobs inwards to target, thus in my opinion, more than justifies its price.

    Agree with Grumpy. I use the totem almost exclusively in Elite runs due to it's incredible proc. I will sometimes switch over to the rifle at boss fights, but not always since the proc will also stun the bosses. The totem is a great weapon. Run elite trails enough and you'll loot one - even if it's not the brutality version, they all proc the same.

    For me its easy... if you dont have gold get the expedtion rifle, damage and proc is good. If you have gold to spend than get a totem of brutality because damage is nearly the same but the DPS difference is huge and the proc is great. The DPS makes a big difference in pve and pvp... everybody who got hit by kershal or some time ago by the totally OP l35 firesquid ROD knows what i mean.

    I like the Magma of Potency better...if you're a staff mage, you'll be up close and personal with the mobs, and you'll need all the HP you can get! (Note: This goes for PvP too - that killer DPS and high HP makes it amazing.)

    Probably not a good idea being a squishy mage... Totem doesn't pull towards you either. It pulls towards a single mob which is stunned for a few seconds first before the pull effect, leaving you time to manuever out of the way. You really don't want a swarm of elite mobs right on top of you if you are a mage.

    And I agree with Alhuntrazeck, I like the potency one for the HP it provides. In my opinion brutality>potency>>fatality. This is why I don't see why fatality is so expensive relative to potency when you give up tons of HP for single digit difference in DMG, which is just silly.

    The process for legendary weapon on this totem is quite infrequent from my point of view compare to expedition rifle chain lightning... which is weird both are legendary weapons

    Staffs are better in PvE as the regular attack hits multiple targets and is also faster. In PvP where you are usually fighting 1 or 2 targets and not a dozen, the rifle should be fine.

    Staff=dps
    Gun=dmg
    damage is more important since you would be spamming skills most of the time.

    This is what I've been using with dragon scale of will armor. I can take hits and be able to get the proc going off often this way. With the skills fire, ice, clock/lightning and wind I can basically keep a whole mob frozen, rooted or stunned constantly. I switch lightning and clock around regularly depending if I want more defense or offense.

    If I'm using mythic armor I switch back to gun since I can't take as much damage on harder levels and can keep away from the mobs. Plus the proc on expedition rifle is like an extra skill.

    It all depends on your style of play tho.
