I will say, that expected events rarely increase (rather, they usually decrease) the price of locks because players fartmed and horded locks for weeks (or in this case months) leading up to the event. The last big increase in locked prices was the unexpected addition of mythic weapons to the Halloween event, they reached a wopping 27k (I know this because I sold mine at this price) and perhaps higher. After the event, the immediately dropped to around 18k and trended down ever since. This event is also flooding locks into the market from power farming the portal bosses (I looted 77 locks in 2 days).
Should I buy now? Or wait for lower
When you see an investment opportunity and think "it'll be worth a lot soon... I'll buy a bunch of em so can make millions!!!"
Think about everyone else who just thought the same thing.
This is just like buying stocks. You'll never know.
Yet you know in a period of time, lockeds will raise. Let's just say, a crazy thing happened, and lockeds become 500g. Everyone buys every single one of them, and waits for them to be raised. That being, no one is farming them, because they're so low, its not worth it. After awhile, people will start paying more, its just a "at the right moment" type of game, like the stock market.

No, there is some ways of knowing with stocks. Research that can help you decisions (Not back-room deals, you Wall street fans).
We also know STS will have surprise events that will spike locked prices. Expected events will not make you millions by flipping locks.
True. But if you buy something now for 10k gold, and it lowers to 5k, you basically lost profit. Even if it raises to 15k, you wouldnt be making as much as if you waited till the 5k drop.
If you wait for the price to go lower, but instead it goes higher, you missed the profit peak entirely.
Locked crates are the same way. Once new mythics are released or a 2x chance weekend pops up, their price will raise. Though mythic releases usually are pre-announced, mythic weekends are usually not.
That's why I don't invest in crates I spam them on certain people IF THEY WOULD TURN THEIR BLOODY GIFTS BACK ON! I'm carrying like 30 right now because apparently it is annoying to spam 57 locks on someone.
