Exclamation Be Aware of Trade Scams

We regularly receive reports from players about Trade Scams.

Trade scams typically occur when a player asks for an item before returning payment. After receiving the item or currency, the scammer will leave or ignore the user their victim.

    Examples:

My trade doesn’t work due to lag, give me your item and I’ll give you yours at the same time. (or shortly after)
I’ll pay you on my alt, give me the item and I’ll be right back on the alt.
    Etc…

This is a direct violation of our Terms of Service.

Note: We do not arbitrate in-game trade disputes. Items lost due to scams will not be returned to their owners. Violations of the ToS can result in a permanent ban.

If you believe you have been scammed, please use the in-game report button to notify our Customer Service Team who can investigate. Additionally, please visit the Spacetime Studios Support page at http://support.spacetimestudios.com.

This can't happen. The submission is sent from your client. No one else can force an accept.

User error sounds like the cause.

Same thing with real life. Do not loan money or things you are not prepared to loose.

A player get into your account if they know your email and password is totally possible. One player forcing another to accept a trade is not.

Ive seen where, they dont force you into clicking accept, but they trick you into doing it. They try to distract you by quickly changing, adding and removing stuff from the trade window...til at some point you've put up your gold, and the scammer hits accept with nothing, or a switched item, in their offer. Ive seen someone try this with me before, i called them out and didnt fall for it. But someone who had been distracted might accidentally hit accept at some point where the scammer has either nothing or a low value, bait and switched item up in the window. I think a second confirmation box could help prevent this particular scam, even if its a little annoying to click "yes" again.

That's a great idea. And during this second confirmation, items cannot be added or removed from deal.

problem is while u lag some seconds... u think u c the right items but in background they was changed... and often seems my check box dont work, but i would recommand u: DONT PRESS YES OFTENER THEN ONCE!! just wait some sec and look what happens. and when i buy very expensive items i let the other set the check box first and wait some seconds... so he has lesser possibility to scam.

Martyntje (alias Thearcherone) was scammed by someone how Kujen explained. He showed me how it works and its a veryvery clue trick and u must pay very much attention while trading... :-/

For me too the first time I check the box it often doesn't work even if the offer didn't change. If this could be fixed it might prevent some scams, because right now people are used to having to check the box repeatedly and it sounds like scammers are using that to their advantage.

Yes, me too. On my iPad it isn't as much of a problem as on my iPod because with the larger screen it's easier to see what I'm doing. But having to hit the check box more than once to get it to work happens to me all the time....
