    Default Advancement Curve Changes for Level 56

    We're happy to announce a new advancement curve for 1.7. We really haven't taken a good look at the advancement curve since we released since AO2. The required XP numbers you saw in Justg's Crafting Screens thread are no longer valid.

    SPOILER ALERT!

    The following is all under-the-hood stuff. If you don't want to see puppet strings, motion capture balls, green screen, wires hooked up to Neo, Kenny Baker inside R2D2, etc., I advise you stop reading.

    We iterated heavily on the first 20 levels at before launch, so that data is not changing. Levels 21 through 50 are changing to require about 40% more total XP (we felt it was too fast). Levels 51 through 55 continue along the new curve. There was an unexpected dip in required XP with levels 40 to 45. This has been fixed. The actual numbers are in the followup post below.

    In other news, we've decided to make the level cap 56 instead of 55. There's a gentle slope to all the way to 55, but level 56 is going to require 10 times the normal xp amount. Content (quests/loot, etc.) will take you through level 55, but there will be one item for sale at level 56. Further content expansions will normalize the required xp between 55 to 56 using the new curve and have another spike at the last level + 1.

    Im excited! So to clarify level 56 will just have one item to use that noone else can? Hmmm I wonder if it shall be worth it? But yay Im excited.

    I love the idea, but.... As of right now the game is lacking content. Some people feel that the levels are repeative.

    I would focus more on adding content with a high replay value. Right now I feel that the older levels feel bland with out new fight mechanics. (I know you added quests but it's not really making the levels more fun until they become dailys, or they have xp value. (also I would wait to implement this until a larger amount of the craft system is added.) this will increase play value.

    As for level 56 I say no. I would like beable to get exp after I hit 55 but I rather not level until next cap.The 5 level increments works well in Many games.

    asommers .... Question....how will this affect current players? We everyone be "de-leveled" back to the appropriate level (so all level 50's will drop to 48 because we have 4464 exp) or will everyone exp be adjusted to match their current level?
    Specific example:
    current level 50 with 4464 exp. when 1.7 hits will that character:
    1-stay 50 but have exp bumped to 5205
    2-"de-level" to 48 and have exp stay at 4464

    It won't affect you if your already 50.

    You can Disable XP Gain when you're at 55 to accomplish this.

    In the database, we store level and fraction to next level. So, if you're halfway through level 48 in 1.6, you'll be halfway through 48 in 1.7, but it may just take you a little longer to get to 49.
