Maybe they know that in order to get to platinum tier youll have to spend either lots of gold or lots of plat on energy and they didnt want to bum out the common player who only plays 1-2 hours a day only

Thats not true, I never spent plats nor golds just to get on platinum tier. Played 5-6 hours a day to get there.
Playing 1-2 hours and expect to reach platinum tier? meh! But your right though, thats why you branded them as "common" players. They want to reach the tier but dont want to effort . This is a 3 week event, if platinum tier is that easy then it would be boring.

Those who are in platinum and haven't spent any actual money but have been playing for A LOT of time are considered the "Time" aspect, whilst those who are in platinum whom have spent money for kits and maybe 75% less time are part of the "Money" aspect.
