@Bazinga Yes, agreed - full str ud not only hamper damage but your hit chance would be horrible too. I use enough str to equip gear and rest in dex. I do less damage than a dex bird ofc - but I can take a nap while fighting bosses - even solo - and not fuss about dying

Now that this turned from guide to discussion here are my two plat:

This is all there is to say. Just go by enemy thread level.

And for the class discussion I think a major factor is how well you know how to play that class. I'd say I can level up mages rather quickly cause in my PL life I've made and levelled more than 30 mages.
It takes forever for me to level bears cause I don't like bears and suck playing bear.
Crim sure levels up bears quickly cause he really knows what he is doing.
So I'd say there isn't that one fast levelling class. At least not for the 'classic' classes.

How many bears do you have? Just curious...

As someone who had over 25 bears when I quit, I can tell you, you are very wrong about only needing "Smash" and a 3x to kill mobs. This game, especially in PvE, is all about efficiency. The ability of bears to crowd control is something that makes bears unique to other classes and allows them to kill in numbers. The low cool down of beckon and stomp allow this feature to be used over and over. However, do not dismiss the added damage rage gives bears and allows their slashes, and auto-attack, to be just as deadly.

Obviously, mobs are harder to kill as higher levels are reached (61+), but this is true with all classes and a bear's survivability gives them an advantage over the other classes in things manner.

Thing is, early on the game, its harder to level with less skills, and less health and mana potions. Bears get beckon around 20 I believe, and for it to work, you need to be almost entirely dex for you to actually hit.
Birds, mages, foxes, and rhinos eat through mana like nothing.

Cannot confirm for mages. Of there is a mana problem it's most likely because of the build and gear selection or mana shield strategy. Played right pve mages are extremely self sufficient even when playing aggressively.

I mean at the beginning. It's hard to get good mana regen at the beginning of the game. One of the first few skills mages get are lightning, which has very low cooldown, and can be spammed. As a result, more mana consumption. As well as comboing with fire and frost. Mana shield is a no no at the beginning. You lose mana enough.

I always found sorcerer/alchemist and random items plenty of mana but I can see that a lightning focused build might need more than that
