Cant hit Taurus the Hammer

Just got finished getting mauled by Taurus in Planar Tombs 3. I realize that he's an elite boss and that he's supposed to be dangerous. That being said, I find it frustrating that I can't target him with a bow or pet skill untill I'm practically on top of him but i can hit one of his vines from across the screen in the same room. This is the only foe in the game I've come across that I have to be so close to to damage with a bow. Is it a bug or is there an actual reason for this?

depends on the angle youre at. if in front of you is taurus and vine, and vine is closer to you, you will hit vine. though I have noticed that if you stun a bit late on his red circle, he is immune to it. is this a bug or meant to be like that?

i have shot past baddies to hit barrels many times.
doesn't matter how close they are sometimes.

I'm talking about my arrows flying in the direction I'm facing even when I woukd be close enough to target any other foe in the game. That thin air never knew what hit it though?
