No, If you replace any gem with another gem (no matter its grand or normal) it's stats will replace the gem you had before.
It won't add up if that was what you're thinking.

Are you sure the double odds was actually implemented? Not to complain and I realize everyone can have bad luck, but I'm about 0-60 so far. In fact, I craft 10-15 items every day before the event, and it has been weeks since I've seen a grand gem. I'd guess at least 300+ tries in a row without a grand gem. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Last year it took me almost a year of upgrading my mythic helm and armor every day before I got them full grand, yet others had it in 2 weeks. I don't get it. The odds I've witnessed are about 100-to-1 for a grand gem. How do so many players get them so quick? I look through the auction and see so many items with full grand. For me I've figured out that eye gems are the best bargain because even though they are expensive, you don't need a grand so you end up saving in the long run compared to trying for grands.

remember previous double odds on grands? Well I do!
Previous double odds had "2x" mark on "upgrade" button and now there's none... I hate to admit but i had to try my luck with 100gems and i got 1 grand. lmao
On real double odds(first or second) I got my myth set 4/6 grand gemmed in only a weekend and before that it took me 2 days to get 2/6 on them...
i wish I wasn't such a nab back then,i would grand gem the bu**load of items....
Anyways,about this double odds, my honest opinion on it is that it's just a false story... i really gem 15-20items per 12h so its 30-40 upgrades per day and get a grand once in a week... imma go and beat-up baldurs a** and we're cool

45 grand gems, no plat spent. I'd say about 1-2 grands per 10-15 upgrade attempts.
