That's not the point. The problem is that someone who is obviously a dev is giving out information to select groups of players outside the forum.
It doesn't matter if anyone else took screenshots of it or not.

The picture was taken during the 8 bit salute stream, it's not really giving out info to a "select group of players".
That was on a livestream chat. They didn't give it to a selected group.

I agree with Serancha- if a statement is to be made at all, then do it on forums where everyone can see it.

Anyone who tuned in to the 8 bit salute choosing to support the charity cause could have seen that, or could indeed have asked any question they wanted.
In addition to being a great charity cause, the 8 bit salute was an awesome opportunity to interact with and chat with the sts crew. It was an open invite (system messages came up in game in AL frequently during the stream inviting everyone to go tune in...) and the sts team were genuinely grateful to everyone who joined them.
Any of you could have joined in and/or asked the exact same thing had you chosen to do so - sts were awesome and super accommodating chatting with players so please do not turn that around into a bad thing!!
There would be no point in releasing an official forum statement saying, "The test server may, or actually may not (we aren't sure), be open in as few as 3 weeks. Don't quote us on this."
The 8 bit comment doesn't seem any different to the "trust us, it's coming soon" which we have seen on the forums. It serves more as an indicator that its weeks rather than months away which is what they are implying in the forums too with different words.

it was not stated where the screenshot was taken from. For those who would rather play than watch others do so, it is not obvious what the source was.
So it was a live stream this time, that doesn't change the fact that information is passed out in various ways through various mediums. How many times have we seen posts on the forums "I got this info (that nobody else knows) from a dev via pm" etc.
