Now there's some nice ideas here. Don't forget about the little people. I really love the tokens to fall from bosses..even having a little token goblin would be fantastic and a nice addition. Thx cara..much love.

Maybe it could be like the lepregoblin; has a random chance to spawn in maps and drops tokens.

So such a system where the top tier arcane items cost 1k tokens would put an approximate price control on these items of 15-20m gold each. Nothing is likely to ever go above that amount in value. So the question is, how much should the best item in the game be worth?

Personally I think 20m is plenty for top items, that's roughly equivalent to 10k plat or say ~$590. That's a lot of IRL money, particularly given that that $590 buys one top item and there are a few in the game. In the past the top items have gone for 100m- this is just ridiculous. A price tag of 20m is still beyond most people who don't spend plat and some that do. Sure, a few dedicated hardcore farmers will earn that much, but these items will still remain relatively exclusive; most people won't have a Nekro and a Toor and an arcane ring.

The hyperinflation caused by plat farming has largely (I hope) ceased, so the market simply can't sustain prices that were artificially maintained by the influx of illicit gold.

First u should read all the thing u need to know bfore making statment,there's still other way to obtain that token (so far I know they already confirm u can obtain that token from orc chest) and maybe and I wish rarely drop from new map elite boss. They still working for it (about odd and other posibility). JS

If the chance like teeth, I prefer not go after it, too much pot to burn with no adequate return. If the the chance is like 1 token in 1 elite orc crate, I will thank sts for that, because maybe we can farm some gold from that.

I've tended to stay out of these sorts of discussions in recent months, but now that this discussion seems to be winding down, I'll chime in with some thoughts of my own....

1) I do like the idea of the new token system. Some players, like myself, opened more than 500 locked crates before we ever even looted a mythic item. It would be nice to know that after a certain amount of crates you are guaranteed to get something.

2) As Carapace said, 1 token = 5 plat. So let's explore what that means in terms of gold price per item. Most players are aware that if you have 5 plat, you can basically turn it into around 10k gold. While the straight plat to gold conversion would only yield 5k, buying items like elixirs, ankhs and event energy kits will usually sell for around 2k gold for each plat spent.

So taking that approximate conversion that 1 token = 5 plat = 10k gold, we would see that an item costing 1k tokens would have an approximate gold value of no more than 10m. This means that without the existence of tokens, any player could raise approximately 10m gold by spending 5k plat. However, this conversion rate assumes that the locked crates being opened are obtained for free. Since crates themselves have some value, usually 5-10k each when new and desired items are available in them, then that would add at least another 50%+ to this 10m gold amount. Not to mention that the existence and demand of the tokens themselves could cause the price of locked crates to rise.

I agree that it's nice that if you spend 1000$ you'll be able to buy something for sure now... nothing like how it was before where one guy got an arcane in 3 locked... another spent that 1000$ and got nothing. My guess is anything free is going to be next to impossible to get like looting a fossil but if you've been around for more that a couple seasons you know how these things go and we know STS is in business to make money. The guaranteed drop in locked is legit.

At first I was really kinda mad that shards were going to be sold by a vendor now after what I went through to loot them from locked... kinda felt like a kick in the teeth by STS for my support over the years and anyone that's opened more than a few locked knows... the shards were harder than anything else to loot. I think I'm getting over it now... I'm open minded about it I suppose now... I hope I'm going to feel like supporting STS is worth spending something still but I'll reserve that judgement for after the event starts.

Also I know what you mean by stay out of these kinds of discussions lately.

How do we craft the higher level crates? I have a bunch of the Ren'gol crates, but don't see a recipe for creating a higher level one. Do we need to purchase it from a vendor somewhere?
