Inappropriate chat, auto-muting, and auto-banning

We are working on the finishing touches of our new word filtering system to be released in a future content update.

For chat, tells, and boot messages:

1) If a player says any one of the words on our insta-ban list, their account and device will be permanently banned. Most of these words should not be said for any reason in any of Spacetime Studios' products and include hate speech terms, sex chat terms, etc.

2) If a player says any one of the words on our insta-mute list, and they will be muted for 5 minutes. Subsequent mutings will then be counted and can result in progressively longer game bans. For example, say <bad_word>, get muted. Say <bad_word> again, get muted again. Say <bad_word> again, get banned for 1 day. Say <bad_word> again, get banned for 3 days. Say <bad_word> again, get banned for 7 days, etc. <bad_word> can be any word in our mute list.

We go through great lengths to make sure that Pocket Legends is a fun, safe place for players of all ages. This new system should help alleviate the current customer service load when dealing with in-game reports.

But seriously, it's a great idea, I just hope it works well. Will save the devs a lot of time, I'm just worried it'll be like the other filter where you can't say "spoon" or anything. We will get a list, right?

yeah we really need this list... dont wanna be banned bcz of some unwanted words i dont think that they are bad...

and what about: "this item waS EXpensive". this always got filtered, but i didnt want to write that word..

That's a good point. I suppose having it link to to a word precosser or something and having a warning that there's innapropriate worse wouldn't be enough?

they could always upload a downloadable list and have a viewer discression note. may not be suitable for all ages..

I activated Chat Filtering and sometimes I got my speech covered by asterisk, probably because of missing spaces between words (a random bug of swipe keyboard on android), that foolished filtering sistem in some way. I hope content autocontrol will be implemented as an automatic alert system for an human to check, or my days on PL are approaching a bad end...

But what the point of chat filter isn't it that people use it to stop seeing the words they don't want to read? Also when me and friends go into private games and joke around say some funny sometimes inappropriate jokes we will get banned/muted I honestly don't like the idea just for those reasons sorry

Any chance of implementing this with a warning first for a week or two so we can have a chance to avoid unintentional or unwarranted mute/bans? (and all the work to re-instate accounts on your end) How about you for the first week you get a message that says "You would have received a (mute/ban) for the use of the word (insert word)". That way we can become accustomed to it and have a better idea of what to expect/avoid? Also, we can give you feedback on any words or bugs with the word list.

It would be better to phase in something like this to avoid headaches on both sides of the fence.

Why not make that chat filter enabled all the time? This way players can swear and nobody will see the bad words and be offended.



Personally though if you end up swearing on a casual mmorpg then you need to take a chill pill. (this game is supposed to be a laid back game)

I just need to know if this is gonna affect private games. Cause I host games for me and my friends to chat on and I don't think we should be banned or muted if we are not offending anyone. If it's a private game then only friends are there and most of my friends arnt so clean with their talk. Anyways just wondering how this is gonna affect tht. Also was wondering if there is a lost of these words that we as players can see and hopefully try to avaid using
