Soloing - mage imo or bear with pots
Damage - bear or archer

1 for pvp i would recomend a bird or elf for pvpv after 25. before 25 a bear will dominate.
2 as for soloing a mage is the best (can heal, and use mana shield)
3 for damage the bird does the most single target damage in the game, while bird does great all aoe
4 as for health bears have the most health and a good tank speeds up runs alot

Solo - Mage / Dex Mage
Damage - Dex Bear / Dual Bar / Archer (for damage, not dps if that's what u mean, then a 2h Dual Bear)
Health - Tank Bear (good armour, good health ... Etc)

new players - bird .. why? its in between its not low armour or high armour its not high damage or low damage its dps i think 65% of people pick bird for their first class

mele- dagger & shield ( highest dps but a glass cannon )
Range- bow
Talon & wing - ( good def)
