Let's Make Pocket Legends A Better Environment

Hi everyone, I'm a relatively older member of Pocket Legends and this game is geared towards kids. After all, the commercials show on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon which we all know are shows meant for kids. Except Spongebob, I love that show. However, I sometimes find it interesting to chill out in Forest Haven, it's a pretty happening place. I see some things that I wouldn't want my younger brother who is starting to get into the game to see. Their are some people on the forums as well who have inappropriate signatures and lets try to respect some of the younger members. I guess I am making this because some things are starting to get out of hand. I appreciate what SpaceTimeStudios is doing with the auto ban to keep the environment safe. I guess I'm trying to get at the point that we as older members should assist, encourage, keep the environment safe, and lend the younger members along the way. Also, I'm looking for a friendly group of people that like to play Pocket Legends that feel the way as I do.

Very good on ya cost. Personally I screenshot or report if I find such activity however do not know if pl does anything. As a father, I too take issues with the various conversation threads...... It would be nice of PL chose certain players to sufficiently validate and report. I know I would from my perspective. I think it's too much for DEVs to sit and police all activity....I for one would assist.....hint hint cinco and asommers...a b2b partnership...I have a few other fathers who would do the same.....

I'm not a father nor am I close to being one. However, I wish that SpaceTimeStudios would sort of speak promote me to help keep chat safe and take some of these matters into my own hands. I mean i don't want to see my younger brother reading this or repeating it. It doesn't make me feel like a good older brother and I wish that I could just get more involved to make this a better environment for others.

People on the internet are for the most part can hide behind technology and don't normally have to take responsibilty for their actions. Young adults especially with the cursing and sexist chat wont even stop if you advise them they could be banned for their attitude and text. Later they may regret their actions and claim they were banned for no reason. I agree with you 100% but trying to correct them is a huge task. Many will get muted and banned when the chat monitoring goes live but they will complain they were banned for no reason or it was a mistake. Others will claim there ignorance and say they did not know. Its like prison inside everyone is innocent. I would love to see the language in game improve for the better.

I am older player and get tired of seeing words like wtf, gay, omfg, and abbreviations used because a player doesn't like something and voices his/her displeasure. Part of that is cause parents give technology and never monitor their online behavior.

Report is great but once a younger member sees that they're not gonna just erase it from their memory like a computer and "ban" it from their ban. That is why I think auto-ban is going to be great! Good thoughts on this subject though I take all of this into consideration and have heard some new things from Rusalio and how big the wide range of player base is and some reminders from you, Otukura. I agree, it's like after me and my brother did a PvP someone said wtf and he asks whats that. What am i supposed to say to that, That is why I hope that chat live will bring justice back to this game. There is no need for the language and isn't a necessity. (I told him it was White Truffle Fudge)

I don't have a problem with WTF because with those orbit commercials it has become just as common knowledge for it to represent What the Face? But I can understand from a parent perspective why it would be offensive.

I think your idea of making this a better place is a very small minded approach. In order to learn one must be taught. If there is no experience, then there is lack of development on how to deal with real life situations. Sheltering anyone from anything is terrible teaching and shows a lack of understanding on how an informed, intelligent, and affluent individual is formed. My WTF's and other expletives are for me and my friends or anyone else I come across while in game. I regularly run around both forest towns and hand out any drops lower than purple to appropriate lvl and class players that I have never met. Make it a better place by what you do, not by how you censor information. The less someone is exposed to the less likely they will have an understanding on how a diverse cult works.

There is always gonna b a line between what one person thinks is right and the next person, i have yet to see any obsene post that would constitute the need to immediately " make this a better environment" lol it isnt that bad, and wat is deemed bad is swiftly dealt with. noone is gonna get promoted to PL internet police chief so if u really wanna help and are as conscerned as u say the report and email feature are your friends. Im liking the concern to keep a clean pla e but lets remember LOTS of ppl play.

Im all for a better environment, however - as in real life there are times when our children are exposed to the harsh realities that are the nasties of life, unfortuneately alot of the time the offending profanities we would like to keep from minors ears and eyes are often enough a direct input from minors of similar age.
I know in game it may be possible to have like an auto word ban that replaces preset banned words or expletives with asterisks or dots, maybe this cld be implemented, i dont know however if this could be the same for forum threads and through experience i know that to personally police the forums for such posts is an impossible task, all that can be done is for people to teport a post after its entry.
Its not an ideal world but neither is the realworld, i just hope for the innocent to remain that way for as long as possible.

Thanks. I think it's some of the behaviour that can be a problem. Just before the offline, someone booted a 48 level player from Keeper with 'yawn' as a reason (it wasn't because of anything but the host had invited a friend)--I thought it was a bit mean, but even more so now when I think it could have been a kid.

No. Your little brother doesn't have to play Pocket Legends. Why should I have to sacrifice my social experience for the sake of keeping a snot dripping kid I CAN'T EVEN SEE "safe"? If I wanted YOUR responsibility, I wouldn't practice safe sex.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I'm sick and tired of seeing people trying to pin parental responsibilities onto others THROUGH THE INTERNET. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I agree with all you people though that I guess you can't control everything I mean he hears a lot worse than what he hears on Pocket Legends in school. The problem with this logic is that children are not "informed, intelligent, and affluent" people. We hope they eventually become that, but they are children and some sheltering is necessary. You wouldn't show a child porn so he could be "taught" about its impact on society, the objectification of women and its influence in modern film culture. Or let him smoke pot so he can understand its effects on motivation and drive. You would shelter the child because a 9 year-old is not old enough to understand or discuss those things. And that is the age this game is approved for.

Children learn a ton by seeing, as evidenced by the effectiveness of, "Don't drive fast like me, son!" If people are swearing, cussing and acting lewdly, he will do so too. It is not rocket science. It is not about taking on "parental responsibilities." It is about maintaining a decent, civilized society. We choose to play; I think we should know better.

The older we get and the more life experience and knowledge we obtain, the darker it gets to be an adult and the innocence of the kids world is lost.
