Questions about plat usage

Im going to buy platinum for the first time(other than adventurer kit XD) im gonna buy the 165 plat kit.I really wann get the most out of it, any suggestions other than ankhs?.I do know that currently buying the luck kits are the best and i caculated:
160plat=40 kits
40*18k=abt 750k
Or should i wait for the plat sale and get more plat, but the price of luck kits will probally go down.
Also, how does plat sale works?
Does it gives more plats? or make the plats cheaper, if it depends, can u tell me how the last plat sale worked?
