Lightbulb The Source of the names

So I was reading a book about Norse Mythology and found some interesting tidbits that I must share

    Island, sea, waves.Makes sense

So if Arcane used to take its name from Norse myths, who knows what else they can add?

Sts copies ideas and designs from various areas and shapes them bit different from the original.
For example Galen, Its Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Blinky : It was Copied from the guy in Monsters University Inc, The green one eyeball creature. Tidbit: Originally Blinky's Color was Green but then Monsters Inc Sued STS so they changed the color.
And many more I cant remember.

It's actually kind of exciting to get the references, makes you nod while smiling for a moment.

Also, I believe you forgot to mention Grimnir (one of Odin's names). Yep, Nordr expansion is full of Norse mythology.

And actually, tis not the first of their games in which this happens. For example, Planet Valeria in SL was reference to the Conan the Barbarian universe (Red Nails). Ah, what a joyous expansion that was! #SLnostalgia

    Not surr about that.

Galen looks like a regular wood golem (but looka more of a wood golem from disgaea for me), and blinky looks like suedo (the yellow eyeball) from monster rancher :/

    Which book is that?

Also there are lots of LOTR references - some veiled, others not. "One does not simply walk into Nordr" when you haven't unlocked it is one. Levolas (lol) after the legendary elf another. Also I think I've seen some boss say "You shall not pass"...

    It's the troll abomination.

I find it cool for sts to make references and easter eggs. But i don't find it cool for sts to make references to other things alreeady used in the game.

    *cough*cough* Recoloured stuff *cough*cough*

EDIT: I'm sure the next expansion will have some E.T. or Star Wars references since it is about aliens.

I'd love to make a run with Han Solo.
Wait...if his name is Solo doesn't that mean he aways soloes dungeons? Hmm...weird...

As you can see both of their concept is of tree and wood. Also both their names start with 'G', Groot and Galen.

    Annnnd this..

Well I can see why you might think Galen was taken from Groot cause their both Treant-ish beings. But there are major difference from design and story standpoint. First Groot has a straight posture and more streamlined humane body that makes him look more like a human with wooden bark as muscles. Galen(With respect to his CoC splash art and in game design) has a large boulder for one arm, large hunched up body probably to signify his lumbering
titan-ish-ness and lets not forget that cruel smile.I think STS was aiming for a man(technically he's an elf, but humanoids right?) who turned into the monster which he really is when creating Galen and afterall he has done monsterish things in his time as an elf. I think Marvel's aim in Groot's design to was show that this large hulk was more human than you think show in those emotional moments with rocket (*sniff*), you can even see the intelligence and wonder in groot's eyes. Also the story that Sts has made for Galen's lore by far original and Intriguing.

For Blinky, I'm not sure what to say, the similarity is impeccable.

Magnus chase and the God's of Asgard. It's relatively recent. Been out for 2 weeks at least.

Is there also a gaelic/Celtics influence?? I d peak of a similarity of computer generated names when trying to name ones character...never mind the futility of it accepting the choices I make
