The term for someone who usually stays in town[s] or within guard zones is townie.

Everybody does both from time to time.

Actually, in MY mmo world the correct terms are "Elf sitting", "bear watching", and "bird watching".

Bank sitting was originally from Ultima Online although it could be from MUDS or maybe some timid AD&D pasttime...

I played UO for about 7 years. I wasn't a power player. I know what a lot of the terms mean. I just don't use them.

Eh they're just fluff terms, not important... The original post just had "people watch" in quotes, so I figured I'd help clarify the questionable phrasing.

LOL, okay, I see. You were helping because you thought maybe I didn't know the correct mmo term for "people watching" and that's why I put it in quotes. I put it in quotes because I wasn't watching people. I was watching birds, bears and elves. LOL

I loved UO. I miss playing my characters. They were interesting. However, UO and PL are the extent of my experience with MMORPGs and they are very different worlds to me.
