    Older news is hidden with a spoiler tag. I keep the older news up for those who don't visit the forums as frequently. One of goals of ALLN is to bring together all the scattered, important AL news into one convenient spot. Game content updates aren't always posted elsewhere on the forums, but can have a major impact on decisions forum readers are making.

    It has been sixty-seven days and Rogue player DarrenPR is patiently waiting for an answer to an important, but complex, question regarding rogue mechanics that only an STS developer can answer. The question at hand is about the Rogue skill Entangling Trap (ET) and its second upgrade, Razor Wire. When the ET skill is activated, Razor Wire adds bleed Damage over Time (DoT) to enemies. When coupled with the first ET upgrade, Adept Construction, which eliminates the skill cooldown 20% of the time, a situation is created where multiple traps can be active simultaneously. Additionally, when other traps from other Rogues are added and with the Rogue Glintstone armor set special ability of releasing additional stunning Entangling Traps, the question of how exactly the traps are supposed to behave becomes even more important.

    Decisions on how to spec a character and decisions on which strategies to employ are made based game mechanics. Rogue players spend platinum/scrolls on spec-ing and in-game time using the Entangling Trap skill based on their understanding of how the game functions. Several Rogue players have spent time testing the ET bleed effect and have discovered:

    • Trap bleeds currently do not stack (trap bleeds did stack immediately following the Ren'gol expansion)
    • Bleed effects from other sources, such as pets, do stack with traps.
    • When traps from multiple rogues are used simultaneously only one player will see damage from the bleed effect
    • Glintstone armor-related traps will consecutively stun for 4 seconds only if no bleed effect from a prior trap is present. If a prior ET with DoT bleed effect is present, glint-traps will not stun.

    [INDENT]Rogue players have expressed frustration that they have yet to receive an answer, but many are still hoping developers will take the time to answer.

    When the bulwark-style mythic warrior weapon named the Glintsone Aegis was released during the 2015 Halloween event, it contained a glitch which allowed warriors to transfer the powerful Aegis proc to any weapon merely by switching to a different weapon after one successful attack. Warriors happily exploited the glitch - which massively increased their effectiveness in pve, to the point of being seriously overpowered. However, the gleeful bonanza came to an end when the glitch was reported to developers and subsequently nixed in the December 3rd, 2015 content update.

    As disappointed as warriors were, most understood that the glitch would not last forever. And, as prepared as warriors were to return to less-than-op status they were not prepared to have the Aegis rendered ineffective by the fix that removed the proc-switch glitch. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened.

    After the December 3rd update, Aegis owners immediately noticed the proc no longer worked properly. Under previous conditions, the proc would trigger whenever an enemy was hit, either with a skill or with an auto-attack. After 10 enemies were hit, the armor would explode, giving area of effect damage to surrounding enemies. Then, the next enemy that was hit would start the cycle over again.

    After Dec 3rd, only an auto-attack with the aegis could begin an shield-explosion cycle. This severely limited the effectiveness of the Aegis because of its clumsy, short range auto-attack. As it is practically impossible to keep track of how many enemies are hit, an Aegis-wielding warrior was forced to interrupt the flow of battle, get into very close range with an enemy and attempt an auto-attack. Warriors using the Aegis are at a disadvantage because they can neither taunt nor easily increase their armor value.

    Developers eventually got wind of the new problem and have committed to fixing it.

    Are the "legendary" weapons conspicuously left out of the winter event actually arcane?

    ALLN reported on January 8th that the weapons were mentioned in the original event announcement, but missing from the event. Five days later, Remiem clarified the weapons were deliberately excluded from the event:

    After an all-too-short 4 1/2 month stint as moderator, Roninmoro is leaving STS to concentrate on completing her second degree. Known to STS forumers as a light-hearted 'mover' and 'shaker,' Roni had a positive impact on the community.     Arcane Legends Latest News was created to give the AL community a place to quickly and conveniently check out what's happening in the Arlorian Universe. We welcome story suggestions, tips and ideas from everyone in the community.

    At approximately 8:45PM CST on Monday, January 18th, forum users began encountering a database error which prevented them from replying to threads, creating threads, sending personal messages and many other forum functions. According to Developer TzatOps, the database on which the forum runs had become corrupted and needed repair. STS was alerted to the problem sometime today and functionality was restored around 2PM CST.

    Deary the has long been a source of humor for Arlorians. Commonly looted from Brackenridge City, the pink deer of 'rare' rarity became the pet of choice among new players because it was consistently the least expensive egg in the consignment shop. With Deary by their side, new players would venture forth into all zones, PvE and PvP. There, they would proceed to make the sometimes-irritating, eye-rolling mistakes most new players make. Thus, Deary became associated with 'noob' shenanigans and the running joke about Arcane Deary was born.

    Through the years players facetiously posted suggestions about what an Arcane version of Deary might look like, such as these pictured below.

    In yesterday's community update, Remiem announced the "mysterious" new arcane-rarity Deer pet is about to become a reality. Later today the pet dubbed "Arcane Deary" will be unveiled and made available to players with today's content update.

    STS Confirms Weapons Revealed In Winter Event Are Arcane Rarity

    STS has confirmed that the weapons mentioned, but not released, during the Brood of Syrillax winter event are indeed of arcane rarity. The vast majority of players had believed the weapons were legendary, but it turned out not to be the case:

    Responding to long-standing player requests and hoping to rekindle interest, STS will soon be dusting off aging elite maps and granting new achievements and titles.

    Arcane Legends players with a keen fashion sense now have an opportunity to use their talents to win some platinum. Today, STS Moderator Seoratrek announced the Arcane Legends Color Matching Contest, which charges players with creating an impressive, color-coordinated screenshot of their character in an ideal setting. According to the rules, player outfits must be as close to one color as possible, using any combination of items and vanities available in the game.

    Five winners will be chosen, one for each of five categories:

    STS Developer Carapace, replying to an inquiry about whether a Glintstone Aegis shield proc fix was on the horizon stated the following:

    Thanks for bringing that back to my attention.
    At issue is that a normal attack is required to trigger the Aegis shield proc, hobbling the effectiveness of the proc and the mythic weapon overall. Skill attacks add to the proc cycle, but cannot initiate the proc. Aegis owners are hoping developers will make skill attacks also initiate the proc cycle as they did when the weapon was originally released.
