Which is better in pve lvl56 arcane aegis or lvl46 arcane sword?

I never tried arcane aegis, but I saw arcane sword l56 in action, and it is very good, but I prefer glintstone aegis if I'm pve tank.

When combined with Axe Throw and even just one point of mastery (i.e. the "bleed"), it is not too shabby against bosses either.

Yes but that is proven, question remains in order of preference which war weapon is a must.
1) mythic aegis ( and i prefer aegis of vigor because of extra dodge)
2) old arcane sword 46
3) new aegis especially pvp
4) new immortal sword

46 aegis is best for pve and the 56aegis is op to snipe rogues and mages in pvp when you are on jugg xD
