Skill point allocation glitch

Originally, when a toon leveled up they didn't have their skill points spent for them. With the implementation of the new tutorial your first 4 skills have a point added to them as soon as you get them. Well if you gain a level by completing a quest you can receive that a free point to do with as you wish. The only requirement is that your final xp gained before leveling is by quest (perhaps being in town is also important). More testing is needed but here is some proof as I have it now.



This glitch could be used to skip some useless skill that points are auto added to, Avian Scream comes to mind, without having to use 2 plat to respec.

Edit: It seems the free skill point has to be spent before any xp is gained, it cannot be left unspent or it will automatically add to the skill that it was intended for. This also brings up the point that if a toon would happen to purchase a respec before getting their default points added to the predetermined skills, the next level could add points where they would be unwanted instead of giving a free point.

Fixed for SL with 1.0.2 Content Update (68338):

• Fixed 1 skill point always being assigned to the first skill even if auto-leveling is turned off

Fixed for PL with 1.7.4 Content Update (72657):

• Fixed automatically mapping a skill when gaining a level due to experience from a quest turnin

i dont think this is a bad glitch at all because those first skills are pretty useful. sometime avian scream is good. when a boss is cornered or you have a group of mobs on you ,an avian scream will knock them back and stun them. its not all bad so skipping it could be stupid especially because with avian scream, you still have a pretty good skill setup

A new issue has arrived with the adding of skill points automatically to the first 4 skills. Any toon that has purchased a respec before gaining the first 4 skills will gain a point in the to the first available skill that doesn't have any points added to it. This will basically nullify the respec and perhaps add a point to a skill that you didn't intent to use at all.
