I got a new one a year ago, played AL on it a few weeks, then decided to just... Never play such battery draining games on it again x.x
My phone battery's life is still doing okay till this day :')

any App that utilizes full graphics capabilities along with screen on and an internet connection you're looking at 1-2h of phone battery life at most. Just buy an extra battery pack and juice up! It's not AL, we're just limited by today's technology! My AL lasts a lot longer on my Note5 than it did on my Galaxy S3, which means that it's getting better with improved devices

go to Menu > Settings > Game Performance (i dunno if thats the right name, its the 2nd tab with all those sliders) > push that framerate/battery slider to the right (~25%)
Batteries decrease capacity over time, depending on usage. A 3000mAh battery won't stay 3000 forever, it may one day become 2700 max capacity
How are your charge cycles like? If you constantly charge that lith-ion battery from 0-100 every time you charge, it could harm the battery. (try charging between <20 to <90)
