    Default Price calculator

    Everyone knows about the insane amount of inflation in PL. There are some items you cannot hope to get if you start from scratch. The main reason for inflation is the players. We make our own prices, with no basis at all. When it comes to more expensive items, people usually use rarity as a factor to determine price. It got me thinking; if there could be a basis for the price of items. Then it dawned upon me that STS must have a record of some sort. With all the bans being made, there has got to be a record of every chat, every trade etc.

    If there exists such a record for the daily log-ins and a record for which player owns what item, I've got an idea. I want to call it Estimated Price Based On Rarity Calculator, or EPBORC for short.

    This could get complex to explain by writing, but it's quite simple. First it filters out players by total time online every week. Those below 1 hour in a week are considered inactive. This is done because item price depends on the number of active owners not the total number.

    The logic of the calculator -

    So the gold cap is 1b, and the max number of item slots in trade is 4. If we want to buy 4 of the most expensive items in one trade with cash, they would have to cost 250m each. Therefore, the rarest item would be 250m. That means if an item has one active owner, it would have an Estimated Price by Rarity or an EPR of 250m. If an item has two active owners, its EPR would be 250 ÷ 2 = 125m. And so on...

    There could be an NPC somewhere with all the EPRs. Also, if the player wishes, he could liquidate his item directly for half of EPR through the NPC.

    This is what I've got so far. It's just an idea. Of course I made this keeping in mind that the possibility of it actually happening is close to zero. But if you think my logic is flawed somewhere, feel free to tell me in a comment.

    I'm sure a NPC telling everyone their black pvp shields are now comparatively worthless will inspire them to sell for pennies!!

    Or "how to get millions farming lvl 13 gray stuff cuz no one farms that"

    I'm being sarcastic. But this doesnt stand a chance in PL, it can't work

    Make some events that need farm like forgotten one
    Or even pure gold farming

    @iceQueen69 The prices are still set by the players. That's just a basis on terms of rarity.

    @tryagain Thanks for pointing out.

    To solve this, we could give a multiplier based on item type. Keeping the max price the same (250m). But what you said is supposed to happen. This is supposed to sort inflation of specific items. By being able to sell crap gear for a higher price, a poor player can actually hope to buy more expensive items by farming.

    STS has to get us users to spend our money to NPCs so the gold gets away from the game. Now people are just farming more and then trade it between each other. This will of course lead to an inflation.

    Th problem is not the prices, the problem is than the amount of money are just growing in Pocket Legends. Things that could solve this is vanities/elixirs sold for gold, or any other things people actually wants.

    I am surprised they haven't done anything to this problem yet. As you said, this will destroy the game experience for new players.

    That's perfectly on point imo.

    @icequeen it does do something. It gives a reference for the price of an item. Whether it influences the player's opinion about the price is a different question.

    I don't get how it even can work

    If I get a level 13 "dark wand of mastery" which is a gray item, should I be able to make 250m of it since no one else got that ?

    No. There are 7 item divisions. Since grey is the lowest rank, its EPR would be 1/7 x 250m = around 35m. I agree that liquidating it for the same price is a bit over the top, but just as a reference price it makes sense. This 35m is because you are the ONLY active player that has this item. Say 2 people have it. Now the EPR is 35m/2 = 17.5. If 10 people have it, it comes down to 3.5m.

    All this does is give a reference price. Take a situation where the EPR is 20m but no one wants it. You're never gonna sell for 20m. You can sell it at 5m if you want.

    Some useless items have a lot of value just because they are rare, for e.g. Dingy helm.

    Working for what u want in PL the is what keeps the game going. If you don't have anything to work for, you get bored.

    That's a good solution but you are just contradicting yourself. There isn't a problem but there's a way to fix it?

    To break your calculator lets just move trade slots up to like 6 or 7.
