*Suggestion* Password Protected Private Chat Channels

A lot of us have friends outside our usual guilds and right now the only real way to communicate with them is through private messaging or we would have to all gather up in a designated location, Numa Prime or Blackstar, to all chat and hangout.

I think this would be a good idea for other uses also, such as Guild Administration.

I know this has been suggested on the PL Forums. Though I thought I would reenforce the idea for SL.

I use to play a couple of games, Subspace and Infantry, about 11 years ago were we had private chat channels.

They were easy to create and join.

/createchat FunTimes: password
/createchat MyHomies: password ...lol

/joinchat FunTimes: password
/joinchat MyHomies: password

I suppose they were on a personal queue because you were automatically joined into them when you logged in, unless you were booted from one or left.

To chat into FunTimes all you had to do was type ;1; instead of the whole channel.
To chat into MyHomies all yo had to do was type ;2;.

Etc...

Depending on the order you created your private chats it would assign the next number in line for that chat.

You could have up to like 10 private chats if I recall.

There were other special commands:

Such as:
/whochat FunTimes - and it would give a list of people currently in the chat.
/listchat FunTimes - would give a full list of people currently subscribed to the chat.

Then you had /ban, /kick and /mute, etc... for moderating purposes.

Also you could promote moderators for the larger private chat

/addmodchat FunTimes "Person's Name"


Just a few examples. I doubt it would have to be so indepth, but in the long run a place where we all could chat with each other if we wanted to without having to visit Blackstar would be nice.
