Technically my second one, I started playing right as the event started last year but didnt have the plat to access the winter festival so im definitely lookin forward to trying my hand at some WF farming

You had to buy it last year because the main spine was sold for plat last year, and that's how the devs made revenue (mainly). Now the main spine is free and the winter campaign will most likely be free as well.

Yup! But I still assume that for the special vanity (last year was that snowman's head) is going to somehow cost a few plats as the pumpkin head cost this Halloween because u had to buy a costume in order to be able to begin the pumpkin head quest. Free to play but special vanities cost.

The snowman head was a quest reward but you had to buy the ticket to get access to complete the quests.

I think their main focus for revenue are the item packs. Whether snowman will be free or not, I'm not sure. It'd seem odd for them to implement 2 free holiday vanities (Reindeer antlers + Snowman Head), since this is usually their time of year to take advantage of getting some income.
