But that result contradicts one of the early rules of being between 1-2.

    Now the sequence here

might have meant to read like remove decimal numbers and add 1 over Pi. Which would make it into

    1 + (1/3.1415926535897932384626433832795) = 1.318309886183790671537767526745

I will double check, but I think this is your number:

    Hint 5:

Then divide 100 by 3 and add that decimal to the number you get from hint 4. And remember I might be twisting up the hints. So think flexibly!

    I added up the hints
1+2+that long decimal then divided by 2 which was 1.619928797864872
    But if I add one it's 2.619928797864872 which isn't between 1 and 2

Misleading hints that are twisted and mixed. Figure it out. Or just go to your math class. Btw, which one is better? Your math class or this one problem? I would say math class. Lol.

Also the hints could also be interpreted as 5 hints = 1+1+1+1+1 or 1+2+3+4+5. I'll work both.

    (1+1+1+1+1)/2 + 1.558167481913534410027767526745 = 4.058167481913534410027767526745

    or

    (1+2+3+4+5)/2 + 1.558167481913534410027767526745 = 9.058167481913534410027767526745

both of these both produce numbers outside of the first 2 hints.

100 / 3 = 33.3333333 drop the integers and be left with 0.3̅3̅3̅ added to the above numbers will still result in a number larger than 2

    So, maybe this
Quote Originally Posted by Swimmingstar View Post

means add up all the results from the hints and divide that by 2. Well, there were no results from hint 1 & 2 so maybe

    (1.558167481913534410027767526745 / 2) + 1.558167481913534410027767526745 = 2.3372512228703016150416512901175

then the result from 5 will add another 1/3 to the answer which is still larger than 2.
I'm going to have to take a step back then and reassess the problem.

Going to post this anyhow, to be able look over my work and to re-evaluate the problem

    *edit
Or maybe hint 4 means add up the hints results divided by two and then add 1. You were specific with a large decimal number earlier, so why would you cut this one off.

    (1.558167481913534410027767526745 / 2) + 1 = 1.7790837409567672050138837633725

but then when you add 0.33333333333333 = 2.1124170742901005383472170633725

    Hrmmm, guess stepping back again.

    *edit
Going back to what I thought was an erroneous result earlier.
    (0.87647736809732508156553505349006 / 2) + 1 + 1/3 = 1.771572017381995874116100860045

Didn't do all the math, but is this your number? or 1.7715720 if going to the ten millionth place.

    Hey

I was looking through your workings, and i thought everything for the first one was okay. till you did the last step (1.558167481913534410027767526745 / 2) + 1.558167481913534410027767526745 = 2.3372512228703016150416512901175

hint 4 is add up the hints then divide by 2 and THEN add one right? so shouldn't it be (1.558167481913534410027767526745 / 2) x2? since hint 4 answer is (1.558167481913534410027767526745 / 2) so add (1.558167481913534410027767526745 / 2) and (1.558167481913534410027767526745 / 2) together which is (1.558167481913534410027767526745 / 2)x2. if the question is referring to 1 as in Q1, then there is no answer, so the answer would be 1.558167481913534410027767526745, and then add it by 0.33333333, you would get 1.891500815, which would be between 1-2.

I'm not sure though. just wondering.
