In a way I like this. It is a teaser.
Think about it. When Star legends had been in pre - beta stage, we all (or a majority of us) reserved our name to get the shield.
Us getting a shield showed us what to expect in the upcoming game. This time we don't receive an item, and IMO it would just make the items that are to come even cooler because it leaves it up to our imagination to how cool it will be, instead of knowing already what is to come.

Sam! I still didn't get the answer! I reserved a few character names. I have deleted and recreated two character of the ones that had their names reserved. Now I have the button at the character's avatar to "Reserve Vampire name". Does this mean, that the names aren't reserved to my account? I have to buy them again? 'Cause I'm going to delete and recreate other characters too that have a reserved names 'till the release of Dark Legends, so do I must pay platinum hundreds again, or it's only a bug that it shows the name as unregistered? Thanks!

WOOWEE, nice iv been waiting for DL, lol still waiting..., but i just dont get y , PL has 2 postpone the new expanse update till DL comes out , i mean thats wat i heard... errr makes me mad, and sad :[ , im tiired of mount fang , and chiroptera sets, and being lvl 66, wit nothing 2 do but merch and save gold, ..when IS new update suppose 2 b , if any1 knos......

oh well good Q, when it comes out lets say u started PL, or SL little late, so u had 2 choose a complicating name, cuz ur name u wanted is taken, so u reserve a name U reaally want, and its good 2 pay money so ppl dont freely reserve, so.... all im saying is its worth it..

Even though I am semi new to the spacetime studios franchise, I am thoroughly impressed but what they have done and am over excited for the new Dark Legends Game!
