Hotbar slots

A noobish question...apology in advance for that
Its just that i purchased my first hotbar slot a few days ago but cant do anything with it...it is greyed out.Can someone pleae guide me as to where /i m going wrong?

It becomes greyed out if the item is finished/isn't usable anymore.

Like event energies after event.

Press and hold the hotbar icon until a menu comes up. Then from that menu you can assign whatever you want to use the hotbar for.

Thanks..it worked.Its so turns out that I was only tapping and not holding it long enough
