Regardless how bored "lots of people" might be, a specific schedule was announced by sts so that schedule should be strictly followed. If anything were to happen that altered this schedule it should be announced beforehand and if nothing can be done about the abrupt change of plans a very well deserved compensation should be given to the event runners whether it be leaderboard runners or casual tier runners.
People organize their time in order to achieve a certain goal within the period of time they are given, this sudden closure of the winter portal is a slap in the face to everyone who ran the event.
And if some players want a competitive leaderboard a basic step to follow is everyone should have the same time to achieve a certain score, a 13 hour difference is something that very much strips away the competitive aspect of a leaderboard, claiming the complain is about not being able of getting a tie is quite the opposite of a fair competition since several players have been unable to reach their expected score due to a mistaken from a 3rd part.
