Even if it was just a small simple effect, would be so nice! It’s the first jewel with proc, it deserves it, come on!

Winter star ring has awesome effect, you can get inspired by that hehe


Edit for more ideas:
Holley set effect on hands


Vigilant pavise effect on body (not the circle around char)


Lunar/fang/doom amulet particles
.. im sure there is so many more that could serve as perfect effect for this winter stone

Plus it would be more attractive for all players, not only twinks. In return for you, it would make bigger store sales for a little of work. Remember how crazy people went for necromancer auras? 120 sold without a plat sale being on. How crazy people want Mentis stones even though they barely have any actual use.. great visuals does matter a lot. @Asommers @Cinco

the gem itself has 2/100 chance to socket a barely visible 0.25% crit and 5/100 chance to freeze target .
and once the gem is removed it is lost , an aura will make the gem a tad better cosmetically rather than slotting it for the usefulness in pve/pvp .

To be fair it's not useless for pve/pvp. But in current maps enemies seem to die too fast vs procs for the hailstone freeze to actually matter, while in pvp all classes have a way to avoid cc and enough haste to keep it up for most of the fight.
I 100% agree tho, that a small effect would be nice to make this gem a bit more special.
Then again the first gem with proc, cursed skull, also had no effect and also had underwhelming stats and proc/proc chance.

I looked into doing this, but you can have multiple gems on a character and I don't want multiple gem visual effects. We currently don't have support for one gem visual effect for N upgrades of the same type on items on a character.

Aww, thats really unfortunate.. although some other simple fx would be still very nice..
It would make sense to be able to recognise those, who possess the ability to freeze the target (both in pvp&pve). The gem is too cool to be this invisible!

Arcane pearl/undying orb spawn small particles randomly in proximity of your character, maybe the model could be just reskinned with small snowflakes. This effect normally doesn’t stack with multiple orb/pearls in inventory.

I'll look into adding support for that at some point in the future, but it won't make the Winter event as it will require a client (app) update.
