    Exclamation Guild Wars 2

Just wondering guys, i'm thinking of buying Guild Wars 2, is it good? I have questions:
    1. Is pvp implemented in it? If it is is it good and skill-based
    2. Is pve good? Does it require skill?
Thats all I need to know for now!

I have it and yes to all your questions!

Pvp is amazing. No matter what class you pick, you will succeed. Some classes are better than others but there is no dominate class.

Pve is fun as heck! I'm a die hard pvper and I've been doing more pve than pvp. That's saying something! Haha it really is a great game. Especially since its a purchase and then you're done kind of deal. No subscriptions. No constantly being nickeled and dimed to death in a "free" mmo.

I do a ton of PvE and I have to say it's the best i've ever played! The events are very fun and not that tedious. It works in real-time for example. You get a quest to escort the kings daughter to his castle but you fail the quest because she got kidnapped by bandits. You, therefore, get a follow-up quest to rescue the daughter from the bandit camp! Really good guild system too. I'm loving it! If you get the game come join the server Kaineng, it's the one i'm on and you can join my guild if you like. Check out our site at http://assassinsofcascadia.shivtr.com/forums.

EDIT: If you want a free trial I can give you one but it only lasts till the 18th so you need to respond quickly. Check out the thread about it here: http://www.spacetimestudios.com/show...ted-play-time)

    Thanks guys! LAST QUESTION!
How much space does GW2 take up? Will it work on my laptop which has intel centrino 2 and Windows Vista? Apparently I have 96.1 GB left on my Local Disk (C) and 193 GB on Local Disk (D) or something.

Just make sure you have 25 GB free space, you're good. For minimum requirements, follow this link and scroll down: https://buy.guildwars2.com/en/

Note: Minimum requirements are just for you to run the game in low setting, but you'll have to go higher if you want better performance. I wouldn't suggest laptop unless it's Mac.

Played Guildwars 1 for years, and been playing GW2 since first week of release (unfortunately, I missed the Beta Weekend)...to your questions:

    1. Is PvP implemented? Guildwars' grass roots is PvP. Is it good? Let's just say It's better than WoW, Secret World, SWTOR, and Rift combined...and closest would be Tera Online but GW2 is still better because of World vs World. Played those games too. Does it require skill? Hell yes. If you don't have background in PC MMOs and just coming off Pocket Legends or any STS games...be prepared to be blown away. It's very hard to put into writing stuff about PvP because it's huge, so much to tell from SPVP to World vs World. Explore this website for information, everything in paper you need to know is there, the rest you'll just have to see for yourself: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page

    2. PvE good? It's the best. It requires skill. Please visit the site above.

Overall, I'm convinced that GW2 is the best MMO out there right now. I've played other games and I just can't see them beating GW2 overall...if you're planning on playing an MMO in PC, GW2 is your best choice. You won't regret it buddy.

Hmm I suppose it's possible that a laptop could work. Just visit Guildwars2.com and check out the system requirements!

Hard disk doesn't have anything to do with lag, it's just that, a storage area for your files. If you're concerned with lag, on your side, the key factor would still be your internet connection and maybe a little bit on your network device (router), though I would suggest directly connecting your computer to the cable Your main issue that you need to address with your laptop isn't lag but FPS (frames per second), you need to have enough juice behind your system that will generate a "playable" FPS. In Guildwars 2 (and in many games), that's probably around 30 FPS, anything below, and you will feel the same sensation of a "lag". 60 is probably the optimal, since anything beyond 60 wouldn't make much of a difference really...just bragging rights.

I still think gaming laptops are not the way to go as laptops were never meant to be used for this kind of stress. I would still suggest you invest on a desktop if you're planning to play games long-term. Guildwars 2 will test your PC/laptop when it comes to World vs. World where you have 30-50+ people in your screen, that can instantly bring down your FPS to single digits if your system doesn't have decent components. If you don't know how this is bad, imagine playing a game with a CCTV video quality (the stop-and-go quality).

The only way for your laptop to run like a desktop is if you upgrade it which is very expensive might as well try to assemble your own desktop. Not to mention, in the future when you upgrade your system, it's cheaper in desktop. So...you really have to invest and work for your system first before you consider playing these games. You might end up rage quitting really, it's so frustrating to have a system that cannot run games properly. Go to guildwars2 website, they have a section there that have people talk about the latest and best components to run the game, you might pick up a thing or two Good luck!

TY! Its a hard decision I can run game like League Of Legends on my laptop without any lag but I dont think GW2 can be compared to LOL. So do you mean I can't play GW2 on my laptop without upgrading it?

Again, the lag thing would have nothing to do with your laptop directly. On your side, It's your ISP and router mainly doing the job as far as latency is concerned. On the game's side, it's their server location and quality. So you can have the best ISP in the world but if you're too far away from the server and if the server is not powerful enough to address the distance, then you will still have bad latency, so it's highly possible that your LOL has better latency than GW2, depending on your ISP, router, your distance from the game servers, and the quality of the game's servers. This is also the main reason why you have servers in main continents of the world like North America, Europe, and Asia, to address the distance issue of servers from their customers, So you might want to check how far you are from the GW2 servers too, that will play a huge role when it comes to your latency. So you'll want to pick a server nearest to you as a rule of thumb. Just an fun fact, GW2's server is located in Austin, Texas too, just like STS, ain't that something? You can have top of the line components but if you have bad ISP and the game's servers are sub par, you will still lag. So those are the main factors of lag in gaming generally.

Now on your system, lag is not your issue but the performance usually measured by FPS in games such as Guildwars 2. Think of FPS as PL's ping The only difference is, the higher the FPS, the better. Now, FPS has everything to do with how huge the game is because your computer must be able to process each frame's content as fast as possible. The best way to describe this is imagine drawing a series of cartoon in as many pages in your sketchbook as you can, then flip the pages as quickly as you can, you'll create the illusion of that cartoon in motion. The same concept applies in FPS. The system must be powerful enough to draw the entire screen and flip the screens as quickly as possible to create motion pictures. Remember, unless it's the real thing (real world) everything you see in TV, monitor, laptop, are nothing but still images being moved quickly to create illusions of movements, they're not really moving So the faster each frame gets processed, the smoother the movements are, likewise, the slower it is, the sluggier the gameplay gets which tends to create a lagging effect (which is also called FPS lag, not to be mistaken as latency lag).

That being said, you're right, LOL is not GW2, because GW2 is a lot bigger than LOL, the system needs to work more in order to process every frame. Unfortunately, laptops generally don't have enough juice behind their components to write as fast as Desktop, therefore, the images will come in at a much slower rate unless you upgrade your components which is very expensive and not practical (The only reason why people should invest in gaming laptops is if their jobs involve moving around places (for example, being a 007 agent or something LOL)...otherwise, if you have a home that you go to everyday, it's just not practical...and IMO, just for bragging rights.

You can play GW2 on your laptop if you meet the requirements, but you cannot run it smoothly unless you upgrade your main components (video card especially). These components are much more expensive in laptop than in desktop, it's hard to find desktop components that would fit inside your laptop or compatible. So...I dunno, everything's a lot easier with desktop. But if you're decided to go with a laptop, go ahead, try to run GW2...then upgrade accordingly
