my crit lands at like 410-415 for my lightning on a mage....crit on staff is like 100 or so

Don't equip that item. For 1.15 % Crit u lose too much damage, plus your skills are based on weapon damage and your damage %. I think based on that your better off going with all STR, STR gear with dex as secondary, + Crit on it and a 5-10 Crit pet to get your Crit up. You don't want to lose all that damage on skills. If you wanted to calculate your true dips for your basic attack take the following
Dps= damage*(1+(crit%*200%)) where 200% is double damage). You'd be at 54 Dps vs 90 with your none dex weapon
