There's very little gold from drops being injected into the economy, it's all from plat for gold purchases which is what STS wants...and I don't think offering less gold per 50 plat is a wise move on their part.
If people want to spend 50-90$ for the best gear(s) then that's their choice. To them the money is easier than grinding elite bosses for days straight w/o a single good drop and much time wasted.
