Default Playing PL on a ipod touch 3rd gen 8gb

    Hi guys!

I have a few questions concerning playing PL on different devices. I got a iPhone 3G 8gb model from a friend and playing PL on that device is just pure agony. It moves so slow and the processor just doesn't live up to it. Now I have a good bargain on an iPod touch 3rd gen, BUT it's the 8 GB model. It has a processor speed of 533 Mhz, as opposed to the iPhone 3G 8GB which has a speed of 412 Mhz (the 32GB and the 64 GB both have a processor speed of 800 Mhz). Will the new speed of 533 Mhz improve a lot? What are the minimum requirements for playing PL on a normal speed? Do other specifications add to the slow playing on my iPhone 3G as well? I turned off everything else, except for WiFi.
On my iPhone 4, PL runs smoothly with no freezing screens.
Could one of the devs maybe clear this up whether an improvement of 412 --> 533 Mhz will improve my game?

    Thanks in advance

The 3rd gen ipod touch should run it at a similar speed to the iphone 4, or a little faster (since it's lower resolution). Both the cpu and gpu are much slower on the iphone 3g.

yes, I read that that should be the case with the 32 and 64 GB models, but not with the 8 gb model. Anyone here who plays it on a 8gb model with no problems?

    mine lags/crashes...

its a 3g ipod 8gb. and i dont have any other apps running. it could be my crappy "go go mexican" internet, but i doubt it, since i wouldn't lag when raiding in WoW...

i dont know, its nice 80% of the time....

I'm playing on a 2nd gen, 16 GB touch with little to no lag 98% of the time.

As far as I'm aware, there wasn't an 8 gig version of the 3rd gen touch, only 32 and 64 gig versions.

This is true, but he was correct about the processor. 8GB "3rd gen" iPods were really just 2nd gen iPods, but the 2nd gens had 533MHz processors.

For what it's worth, I play on a 1st gen iPod Touch (I know, I need to upgrade ), and I have some lag, but it's really not too bad with High Quality turned off in the settings. When a ton of mobs get on the screen (like when rushing), or when mages start spamming skills, my lag can get irritating, but much of the time it's not a major issue. So it looks like processor power isn't the dominating force in different players' varying lag...

If it's really a 2nd gen touch (which is what it sounds like), then from what I've seen, it would play a fair bit better than the iphone 3g, but substantially worse than the iphone 4. It's a pretty big jump in overall performance between the 2nd gen touch and the iphone 3gs or 3rd gen touch.

Yes Beans is correct. The 8GB 3rd G model is a 2G "put into a new 3G jacket" at a fairly lower price than its 32GB and 64GB brothers. But nvm....I got an offer for a 64 GB 3rd G model iPod.....newstate.....for the iPhone 3G and 20 euro's extra!
So that y'all know........I'll be hanging out in Towne a lot! Thanks for the replies! Beans....this is for you: xxx (don't worry, I'm a girl IRL )
