so called vanity weapon

so i just got a pm in game asking if i got the vanity weapon.....
can anyone confirm or deny this, it was seen on a warrior and the person said it was a purpleish lightning something....im aware of the lightning sword but they said it was different

They may be referring to the weapons that are given when you enter promo codes. They're level 1, but they look sweet, so they're essentially vanity.

I disagree. They are not "essentially vanities." They are no different than any other gear, other than the way they were acquired.

Would you rely on their stats in a fight if you're any level higher than 4? No? Then they don't serve a purpose other than looking cool. That's vanity, as far as I'm concerned.

For what? The update, or the vanity weapon? Type these in game chat to get the corresponding weapons:

Rogue - Ravagers of Lethality - /promo aol111312
Sorcerer - Celestial Staff of Grace - /promo kotaku111312
Warrior - Lloyd's Mighty Arm of Will - /promo androidcentral111312

Try those weapons out and tell me they don't basically qualify as vanity. :P

Just because you call an apple an orange doesn't make it so.

By your reasoning, any gear that lesser than what you have equipped is a vanity. It isn't.

By that definition, yeah, wearing inferior equips because you like the way they look is essentially the same as equipping a vanity.

What you're saying, and yes, I get it, is that if the item isn't actually a cyan-named vanity item, then it's not a vanity, period. I respectfully disagree.
