Armour vs % dmg reduction

Hi guys, just a quick question.

Been seeing a shadowrealm blade for warriors which does 50% dmg reduction. Has anyone tested this yet and see how it compares to a sword an shield that adds about 80-100 armour at 21? Cuz if its really 50% dmg reduction, isnt it a little overpowered and making the shield totally redundant?

The 50% dmg reduction on that blade is a proc. It isn't a 100% chance, but a low chance of activating it every time you attack.
