Don't quite get your meaning, but there are other alternatives to having raw armor. Some are dodge or disable skills.

Tank generally means survival of you AND your teammates, via taunts and protection skills. Survival means just protecting yourself with no concern for taunts or anything like that.

Just think of making the tankiest build you can that skips taunt upgrades, healing range, etc. Anything that doesn't directly affect you're own personal defenses.
