Very nice contests. I enjoy watching em. (:
Here is my entry...the Gladiator set...could have put some fancy details on the plates and on the rogue's belt but I've always been a bit lazy when it comes to things like that. I was also thinking of putting in etchings of laurels around the crown of the sorcerer's helm...but again...got tired and just didn't want to work on it anymore. By the way, the head decoration (the red brush thingy on top of the helm) on the rogue's helm is very long and trails all the way behind her...well short in front and long in back...kinda like a mullet Whereas the head decoration of the warrior and sorcerer's are more of a traditional fan shape.
I'm thinking of submitting another concept so hopefully you won't close this contest anytime soon.
Seriously guys, you all should work with STS team.Thats pretty cool
@SoulBlizzard:This is why I dived in headfirst when I saw this contest...I'm secretly hoping someone from the dev team is looking...and maybe...just maybe...a seed will be planted..Seriously guys, you all should work with STS team.Thats pretty cool

@posh not bad! I like the adventure time theme. Who is the rogue supposed to be, is that Marceline or Fiona?
@Skydagger, Kokonani, and Vstrich how did you guys get the textures to work so well? I was using mspaint and photobucket's editing tools and i found it difficult to get close to what you guys did.

I use photoshop and lots and lots of: layers, use of smudge tool, use of blur tool, use of feather brushes to get the gradient shades of dark to light. I experiment a bit at a time using separate layers and then I build layers upon layers until I get what you see there. Oh, also I start the entire thing out first by using the lasso tool and just the color black...to block in shapes. I get the shape of the pieces right first (a silhouette of, for example, the helmet) before going in and doing color and gradients...helps a lot to get the basic shape right first.
I am on an iPad 3 using the app Sketchbook Pro. That's all I use
