Yeah those guys are really good at making a thread drift off-topic lol. My question about this is... If a majority of the players decided to boycott buying plat would it really make it better or worst?? Do we think they would suddenly lower plat prices? what are we trying to gain out of this? I can say prices are a bit high right now, but i Couldn't foresee anything good coming out of not supporting them at all.
Simply put, if it's worth it to you, you'll do it. You'll buy Slagg. You'll buy plat to open crates. You'll buy plat to purchase gold or items --and you'll do it multiple times if the offer is enticing enough for you. Whether the offer is a chance to get something or lose everything (gambling) or a sure thing (purchase gold for a CS item), you'll spend real money to buy these in game items if its worth it to you.
Problem is, we all have different ideas what is worth it to us. Some of us love the gambling aspect of this game and the idea of the big win, however remote). Some of us want the sure thing. Whatever. For me, most of what I'm seeing STS put out lately is not worth real money. Slagg could be better. The new gear could be better (and I wish STS would not think warriors actually want DEX on their armor...)
So Slagg would be worth it to me if he was either cheaper, or his stats were greater. The Locked Crates would be worth it to me if they contained at least what my cost, or close to the cost, of me opening them. Prices could be just fine and dandy the way they are, if it was worth it. Don't get me wrong, I like this game a lot. I think STS did a great job making this game and if fully deserves best MMO of the year. But if the items keep on pushing the wrong stat for its intended class, if the plat exclusive pets and items are not good enough (+20 STR, DEX, and INT is great when you are level 16, but how will it benefit you when you are level 36 when that 90 plat pet doesn't scale?)
Sooner or later, players will become disenchanted with the bells and whistles of this game if itemization does not change to match its cost. I'd like this game to last more than a year, but I fear the charm will fizzle without some changes. But I guess that's what we gamers do. We simply move on.

Try not to look at it as "either you spend money or you don't"
Instead, look at it as a vote for particular items to spend money on. For example, if nobody buys the locked crates, maybe they stop doing the locked crates and figure out some other way. If nobody buys slag or ripmaw, maybe they no longer sell mythic pets for 250 plat, but maybe they get cheaper or maybe some other way completely.
Your purchases are votes.
That's like saying try not to pretend that it hurts when i cut you, but focus on how long the incision can be.... Just DOESN'T make sense.
Its about worth and that will always come to the pocket book. For those of us who are older and don't have enough time or KID power, I prefer spend plat to get what I want, but it has to be worth it.

First off, awareness of how you impact the game is important.
Support by buying things that last, not buying things that have a short life span. Shows that people want change instead of just buying excessively(hundreds of crates) and having everything stay the same.
Support by better means(stuff that last forever) e.g vanity, cheap pets
As oppose to gambling (short term, then dispose)crates, luck rerolls

250 plat for Ripmaw was borderline acceptable since Mythic stuff wasn't even out yet and it was kinda promoting the new rarities with a title and banner. Now, mythic gear is dropping in the game so that banner and title don't hold the same value anymore and all we have now is a ridiculously overpriced pet.
I for one won't be supporting 250 plat pets anymore. Ripmaw was kind of special, now it's just a cash grab.
